With the leaves on the ground this may have been the last weekend to do any fall portraits with some foliage. I didn’t have any shoots this Saturday afternoon so I decided to take my four year old son Spencer out to Denver’s Cheesman Park. I had driven through before many times but never had bothered to shoot there in the past. I definitely will be shooting there in the future! Cheesman park has some of the best spaces to photograph outdoor portraits. With plenty of leaves on the ground and a four year old looking to throw himself into leaf piles or throw the leaves into the air, I just had to take advantage of the moments.
This was a fairly short shoot, as any are photographing a four year old. It’s even harder when its your own child since they are always pushing their boundaries. I find photographing other people’s children a much easier. Spencer is quite a trooper though since he sits through number of test shoots. He is great for trying new ideas on.
If I’m photographing outdoors I tend to prefer the late afternoons as the sun as setting as the light is much better. We started around 4:00 and finished by 5:00 this afternoon.
